About North County Sports Medicine
Our Philosophy
North County Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy is absolutely a unique and boutique therapy clinic. We make sure every experience in the clinic is tailored, specific to what you need and overall makes you feel like you are headed in the right direction. We know how typical physical therapy offices work and how production is a key component to the success of those clinics. A lot of times patients get lost in the shuffle and they need more than mediocre care. It’s different here. You get one on one, individualized treatment with the physical therapist. We have high expectations of our patients and vice versa; we are all accountable for the progress and outcomes our patients achieve.
Our Experts
Personalized Care
Dr. Jennifer Rodriguez, PT
I am passionate about helping patients not just recover, but truly thrive. My deep-rooted love for fitness, exercise and sports has shaped my approach to rehab, focusing on functional movement, strength, and resilience that is sport-specific. I’ve also been practicing long enough to see and personally experience the changes that our body goes through with age, and then how to figure out how to keep moving in healthy ways that I enjoy. I’ve had several surgeries- lower back (herniated discs) and both feet (neuromas); these have been humbling experiences all the way from trying to rehab the injuries, through surgery, to making a full physical recovery back to my “norm.” Being an athlete is an identity, and one that I respect and will do everything I can to help in order to return to a sport/activity.
My practice is built on a foundation of unwavering work ethic and personalized care. I believe that achieving successful outcomes requires a collaborative effort, combining the latest evidence-based techniques with the patient’s commitment to the recovery process. With a natural affinity for helping athletes specifically, I bring a dedicated, goal-oriented mindset to every session. My intent is to make real, measurable changes at each visit, whether the goal is to help you return to your specific sport or simply help you get back to your routine of exercise and fitness.
Dr. Jason Shaver, PT
For the past two decades, I’ve lived and worked in environments where capability is essential. From CrossFit gyms to the mountains and ocean, throughout Coronado and Camp Pendleton, my career has centered on helping people perform at a high level when it matters most.
I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine and have since helped hundreds of athletes and tactical professionals prevent injury, recover from surgery, and return to peak performance. My approach is shaped by my background as a former Navy Corpsman, with deep experience in tactical training, functional fitness, and hands-on manual therapy.
After separating from active duty in 2018, my family and I relocated from Camp Pendleton to San Marcos, where I completed my doctorate in 2021. Since then, I’ve been practicing in North County San Diego, consistently delivering strong clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction.
Today, I live in Temecula, California with my wife, our three boys, and our dog. Outside the clinic, you’ll find me mountain biking, fishing, backpacking, trail running, surfing, and exploring the outdoors with my littles.
Emilee Garrett, DPT
“My passion for movement and performance was shaped by 17 years of playing competitive soccer. Originally from Temecula, I continued my soccer career at Cal State San Marcos, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, and later completed my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine.
Now based in Carlsbad, I enjoy staying active with beach days and practicing yoga. I’m passionate about helping athletes recover, rebuild, and return to sport at the highest level while optimizing performance and long-term health.”
